Raja's amazing recovery is a work-in-progress. Compare for yourself as you view his "before" and "after" pictures and read the accompanying text describing his incredible developmental progress, personality restoration, and self-help skills. Before This is Raja on his third birthday. At the time this photo was taken, Raja had no language, was not toilet trained, and had difficulty using eating utensils. He was terrified of other children, strangers, and loud noises, reacting by clinging, crying or screaming when confronted. His attention span was extremely limited. He could not stay on task or respond appropriately to simple directions. He demonstrated significant tactile defensiveness to basic grooming procedures and could not dress or undress himself. Grumpy, Raja rarely smiled or made eye contact even when his name was being called repeatedly. Seven months later Raja was diagnosed with autism. After This is Raja at 4 ½ years. Diagnosed with autism one year earlier, Raja had been using Comprehensive Organic Intervention for nine months. As explained in the book, Climbing Out of Autism One Bite at a Time, Comprehensive Organic Intervention is a two-pronged approach (dietary and environmental) for facilitating autism recovery. Through Comprehensive Organic Intervention, and without the use of medication or additional therapy, Raja is recovering from autism.
Once language deficient, Raja now speaks in complete sentences, singing songs, repeating nursery rhymes and reciting the alphabet. Counting to thirty unaided, he also knows, and can spell his name. One of Raja's favorite pastimes is to "tell a story," verbally creating a story from his imagination. He can assess emotional states by identifying facial expressions, including recognizing and verbalizing his own feelings. Fully toilet trained, he can dress and undress himself and uses eating utensils when dining. His tactile defensiveness has nearly vanished. Some of Raja's favorite activities include making friends at the park, loading and playing computer games (without assistance), and dressing up in superhero costumes. As a
parent, I was informed that my son's autism was an incurable brain disorder
and that "coping" with autism and its limitations would be our
lifelong journey. Thanks to Comprehensive Organic Intervention, on August
27th, 2001, Raja wrapped his arms around my neck, looked deeply into my
eyes, and said, "I love you, Mama." Clearly autism recovery
is not only possible; it is miraculous! |
